The League's Mission

The League of Women Voters, a national non-partisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Its dual mission today is 1) to expand citizen participation in the election process and in federal, state, and local government decision making and 2) to secure public policies that promote League positions based on member participation and agreement. Founded as a women's organization in 1920, it is now open to membership by all citizens of voting age.
